Engaged and motivated employees have a positive impact on Customer satisfaction and our focus on Employee Satisfaction resulted in the highest EOS & CSI score and lead in 2023 to the best year in the 25 Year company history.
What did we do to achieve a EOS ( Employee Opinion Survey ) score increase from 72% to 83% in just one year?
The EMT ( Executive Management Team ) together with HR took the feedback result from the previous year to heart and worked on several improvement areas to address the key concerns of the over 600 employees.
1st Team building
As we operate at different work locations, across companies & industries, it is not easy to get everyone together. In 2023 we arranged 5 team building events that allowed the various teams to get at least one to two times together. The Management team grilled for the team, we had MSM Basketball competitions, quiz nights, our own MSM Naadam, year end party etc.
One of our MSM core values is Collaboration and this team building events has helped the Automotive, Industrial & Beverage teams to work closer together.
2nd Quarterly Townhalls
Communication is key. We conducted quarterly townhalls in which the Management provided an update on the Groups performance, sharing success but also highlighting challenges and where we are heading as a Group. This platform also allowed team members to raise questions and to get clarifications.
I still remember that in our first townhall the question was raised if the company considers to provide a equity / shareholding program to employees and i was happy that our Chairman: Laurenz Melchers was present and able to answer it.
3rd Talent Development
We have top talent in our company and a key part to retention is to give them the opportunity to grow with the company and to let them take on more responsibility in the group across divisions. We formed a train the trainer program and established 360 leadership programs. Making each other stronger and better is extremely rewarding and motivating. This initiative is also very closely aligned with our core value: Continues Improvement / Operational excellence.
4th Appreciation
in our day to day work, we recognize contributions and appreciate the hard work, effort and results that individuals and teams bring to the company. at team building events, we provide awards and share the success with everyone. Saying Thank you is very powerful. We had one employee who generated consistently over 1 Mio USD in sales every month ( total 13 Mio USD in sales in 2023 ) not because he was pushed, but because he is self motivated and often worked on weekends, day and night to be the No.1
5th Compensation
We regularly benchmark our compensation with industry peers and monitor the impact of high inflation across the salary grades and where the talent pool is most competitive. loosing key employees or team members with specific skill sets that are hard to find / replace, is very costly for the company and we aim to compensate our team fairly, while we reward those who deliver above and beyond of what is expected, individually and as a team.
The EOS improvement points would have been not as impactful is salary increases would not have been done. What people earn is a key motivator.
